Ernie Gilbert is a graduate of the University of Michigan and The California Institute of the Arts. After receiving a degree in theatre performance from U of M, Ernie moved to Los Angeles to study animation at CalArts, and to make funny cartoon shows. Since then, Ernie has worked as an Animator, Character Designer, Art Director, Design Supervisor, Assistant Director, Storyboard Artist, Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Flash Animator, and voice actor. Ernie has received two Emmy Awards from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and two Annie Awards from the International Animated Film Society for his animation design work. Ernie has taught at The Barnsdall Art Institute. Nickelodeon Animation Studios and at California State University- Northridge, and has held design and drawing workshops in and around Southern California, Michigan, Virginia, Dublin Ireland and Florence Italy.
Ernie's clients include Disney Jr, Nickelodeon Animation, Walt Disney Television, Cartoon Network, Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers, Ka-Chew, Nick Jr and American Greetings. When he's not making cartoons, Ernie enjoys writing and directing for the theatre, making music with friends, and spending time with his family (not necessarily in that order).
